Basketball star Angel Reese has slammed Delta after the airline offered $30,000 to passengers aboard the plane that crashed on the runway in Toronto.
The Delta Air Lines jet burst into flames and flipped upside down as it tried to land on Monday afternoon, leaving passengers ‘hanging like bats’ from their seats.
Miraculously, all 76 passengers and four crew on board the flight from Minneapolis to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport survived.
Twenty one victims were taken to the hospital for treatment and, earlier this week, it emerged that Delta was offering $30,000 in compensation to everyone on the flight.
But that sparked outrage from Reese and many others. ‘Wait that’s it? YEAH NO,’ the WNBA star wrote on social media.
Many others echoed her frustration, with some even accusing the airline of ‘bribing’ passengers to avoid lawsuits.

‘$30K bribe to get people not to sue,’ one user wrote. ‘Wonder how many will take it?’
‘Delta owes those folks much more than that,’ another wrote. ‘That ain’t even gonna cover the cost of the mental health trauma and PTSD over this crash,’ added a third.
A Delta spokesperson insisted the money is a gesture of goodwill that comes with ‘no strings attached and does not impact rights.’
If all 76 passengers accept the airline’s offer, it would see Delta fork out nearly $2.3million.
It comes amid an investigation into what went wrong, with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration all involved.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian defended his pilots earlier on Wednesday, telling CBS there is only ‘one level of safety’ across the airline and its subsidiaries.
