Elon Musk fans are only just discovering the ‘hidden symbol’ behind Tesla‘s iconic logo.

In a recently resurfaced Reddit thread, one user questioned the deeper meaning behind the badge.

‘Other than the obvious “T”, what does the Tesla logo represent? I’ve heard it resembles a particular part of the engine?’ they asked in the post.

‘To me, it looks like a very angry dagger, but that’s another story.’

And dozens of readers flooded to the comments to share their best guesses at the significance behind Musk’s logo.

‘It resembles a cat’s nose,’ another said.

‘I was trying to look this up yesterday but I never thought to ask here. I could not find much,’ a user revealed.

‘The T with a line above it looks like the symbol for “battery” in schematics. Maybe a coincidence though,’ someone suggested.

Another speculated: ‘It is also the silhouette of the falcon wing doors.’

‘I like to assume it is a sleek version of a Tesla coil. Nikola Tesla was building a giant Tesla coil to transmit free electricity… Tesla Motors today is building a giant supercharger network for free electricity… There are some parallels there I think,’ a user shared.

One person reflected: ‘It’s fascinating to me how many plausible answers there are here.

‘Whether it looks like a piece from an induction motor, or a power line, or a battery in an electrical schematic, or evokes the Model T, or is like Serbian axes, or even bears resemblance to Mr. Tesla’s face, it’s clear that the logo is a great piece of design – regardless of whether it was intentional or not.’

However, back in 2017, Musk took to Twitter to address the pressing question about his Tesla logo.

‘Similar to SpaceX, the “T” is like a cross-section of an electric motor, just as the X is like a rocket trajectory,’ he wrote.

According to AutoPi, RO Studio created the Tesla logo.

It was originally designed to fit inside a shield symbol, but now the company just uses the ‘T’ as its standalone logo.

It was changed to a more simplistic design in 2017.

The update removed the word ‘Tesla’ from the emblem, allowing the ‘T’ to stand alone.

The main body of the ‘T’ logo represents one of the poles that come out of the rotor – the rotating part that interacts with a magnetic field to produce movement – of a motor.

The line across the top represents a piece of the stator – the stationary part of an electric motor that generates a magnetic field.
